Research the Market and Quick Analysis - Mixmag

This is the front cover of an issue of Mixmag magazine.

I chose Mixmag as one of my magazines influences because it is a lot like my magazine and it relates to the genre of music i like. Most of my ideas to do with the content for my magazine have come from this magazine. However i cannot make my magazine exactly the same as Mixmag, so i'll have to make a few changes. For example the colour scheme will be different and the content will be more in depth.

Magazine Cover Analysis

Colours and Font size:
This cover has a lot of bright blue, especially for the font of "Daft Punk", also the colour is used for the person wearing a helmet and what looks like leather clothing. This particular cover is quite one sided on the colours, almost making it a theme for the cover. The Font size is bold but thin, however it is quite a funky sort of font, which would grab the attention of any young person walking past the magazine, who likes to go out to dance clubs and events.
The Main Image:
The main image is of the band called Daft Punk. They are futuristic looking figures who represent dance/trance music and are famous for their Dj set ups in clubs around the world. You cannot gather much information from them seeing as you cannot see their faces, they seem as they're almost trying to hide their identity.
The Layout:
The particular front cover doesn't have a specific dominant image, it is more spread across the magazine and not just central. There is one section of text on the right side of the cover but not much more. Other little snippets of whats inside are in the corners of the cover.
The Content:
The content is based on the genre of music the magazine represents. For exampe, inside it is likely that there are reviews on club nights, articles on artists/ interviews with artists, information on upcoming events and much more.
The Tone:
The isn't much of a tone to the front cover, if anything the front cover just looks like a modern club magazine.
